It determines parameters in the field of clinical biochemistry, immunochemistry and hematology. The range of laboratory analyses is in line with the nomenclature of tertiary level services. New analyses, which comply with requirements of clinical doctors and needs of patients, are continuously introduced. The goal of the laboratory unit is to obtain accurate, reliable and timely results, which help in determining the diagnosis, monitoring the effectiveness of therapy, the course and prognosis of patients&#8217; diseases. Laboratory diagnostics is performed in accordance with the principles of good laboratory practice. The entire work process, from sampling to issuing laboratory results, is completely defined, standardized and controlled. The work is performed in accordance with stipulated professional procedures and instructions. The quality of laboratory work is continuously monitored. Internal quality control is performed on a daily basis in all phases of the laboratory work process, and for years we have been successfully participating in the international program of external quality control. The laboratory has high quality, modern equipment and professional, trained staff. The laboratory staff members have relevant licenses for work. They have continuous training and cooperate well with each other. If necessary, sampling is performed throughout the day.<br \/>\nIt is necessary to take instructions for laboratory analyses from the counter.<br \/>\nThe patient with a referral letter should go to the laboratory section for blood sampling which is located on the ground floor of the Institute (outpatient unit 6).<\/p>\n<h4>General instructions for patient preparation for blood sampling<\/h4>\n<p>Blood sampling is performed after 12 hours of fasting.<br \/>\nWater can be taken as usual.<br \/>\nCigarettes, caffeinated beverages (tea, coffee), juices, dietary supplements should not be taken in the morning before blood sampling.<br \/>\nAvoid alcohol consumption 24 hours before blood sampling.<br \/>\nIt is necessary to avoid intense physical activity a few days before blood sampling.<br \/>\nFor the analysis of certain biochemical parameters, blood is sampled at a precisely determined time and in accordance with the recommendation of a medical doctor Instructions for taking a single urine sample<\/p>\n<h4>Instructions for taking a single urine sample<\/h4>\n<p>A urine sample should be collected in a clean, disposable container with a lid.<br \/>\nThe sample of choice is the middle stream of the first morning urine, after an overnight sleep, genital hygiene, before breakfast and other activities, whereby the recommended period of time from the last bladder emptying is 4 hours.<br \/>\nThe analysis is not recommended in women immediately before, during and immediately after menstruation, or in women who have visible vaginal secretions.<br \/>\nThe container must be closed while the sample is transported to the processing location.
